Magazine Part II
1. Early Magazine Covers- No descriptive words are used. The covers only indicate the title and publisher. There's a sense of balance, and sometimes an image is included. Another form of cover is a table of contents. This is much more filled up than magazine covers today. Another type of cover was one that was more symbolic. It uses one image, and an arch of test to get the point across to the reader.
2. The Poster Cover- The logo and detailed picture are the focal point of the magazine cover. Sometimes the cover will have a small line that tells the theme, but it doesn't invade the image. The pictures are very detailed and are very attractive. The titles are short and to the point, but also enhance the picture.
3. Pictures Married to Type- Cover lines are very common. These were used along with the image to grab the readers attention and draw them in. However, some used images to get the readers attention and less cover lines. The magazines commonly had large titles
4. In the Forest of Words- In the 1990's, a graphic and very small cover lines were used. This changed and now very graphic, large, and bold cover lines are used which cover up the model. The model is more used as background space so the cover does not look boring. The cover lines fill the page, trying to catch the readers attention. Models take up a very small space and are surrounded by the cover lines.
