At 10pm on a Wednesday night in Barstow, California, Janice Jones' dog pushed her gun off of a chair.
The gun went off as it hit the ground and shot Jones in her leg.
"Jones does not have a permit for the gun," California Patrol press liaison Tammy Rye said.
The county's district attorney's office was considering whether to charge her in relation to the gun accident. The accident could have been much worse, according to Rye.
"It could have been worse. The bullet was two inches away from hitting the gas tank," Rye said.
There was another issue Jones had run into. Jones had a Pomeranian, Tombo, and it appeared to be abused when Animal Control officers came to take the dog.
"The dog seemed to be malnourished," according to Janet Ngo one of the animal control officers, "and had fresh cigarette burns on its forehead, " Ngo said.
Jones' was also cited for her license plates.
"Officers cited Jones for expired plates," Rye said,
