Long Answers:
1. The writers direct "stance" is that science can be used to help us understand more about the world and that science can be helpful. He believes we should also appreciate scientific discoveries so they benefit us as a whole.

2. I found the writers opinion on science in paragraph 6.

3.  "At its root, science is merely an effective tool for helping us learn more about the world and how it works."

4.  A couple facts he uses to prove his opinion are scientific advances such as treating cancer and a  variety of diseases. There were not a large amount of facts used in this piece. The facts he did use, contributed to the fact that he thinks science makes remarkable advances and we should pay attention to these advances.

5. The author concluded his piece by explaining that, in order to get the message that science is helpful and useful in making decisions, we need a large group concentrating on the effort. He also says we should not dismiss the results of science. The author also says we should believe science so that it can benefit us all.

6. I do not think he supported his opinions withe enough facts or quotes. The approach could have been backed up by more facts that supported his opinions more. There was also only one quote used in the article. I think the use of two scientists helped his opinion, but he could have used more facts to back up what he was saying.

7. I agree with the authors stance. When leaders make decisions and they are not based on scientific facts, they can have damaging effects. Especially when leaders make decisions that make environmental situations worse. Also, I believe people should trust scientists and the validity of science because scientists are supposed to remain bias and has constant testing to make sure results still remain true.
