Final Exam Part Three

Opinion Writing Topic #4 Children should be given allowance based on the amount of chores they do and how good their behavior is.  This is because children need to understand that actions have consequences and having money is not always a given fact of life. By this, I mean that children should not always expect to have their own money or be given money no matter what they do. They need to learn that when you want something, you need to work for it. Working for allowance provides a sense of accomplishment that makes children want to continue to behave and do chores to work towards getting an allowance again. Behaving and getting allowance shows that if they do something good they will be rewarded, and if they misbehave, they will not be rewarded. This is important for kids to learn so they understand the value of money. Giving children allowance despite bad behavior or not doing chores leads them to believe that they can act any way they want, and they will still get rewa...

Working for 30 years in law enforcement can take its toll on anyone, but not for Jesse Youngblood. His journey into law enforcement was not as simple as it sounds. His path took many twists and turns throughout the years. “I met your grandma in freshman year, and during junior year she got out of school early, I wasn’t going to let her get away from me,” Jesse Youngblood said. “At the time, I hadn’t gotten a degree or anything so I got a job as a forklift operator.” The high school sweethearts did not question their choice of moving together to Dallas. As Ruth Ann Youngblood taught math, and later was a guidance counselor, Jesse operated forklifts to make a living. Jesse had always had plans to earn his degree, but was not sure when that would happen. He continued to work at the same job so he could support his family. One day, a fr...
