1. A war statue was going to be destroyed and alt-right citizens protested in Charlottesville VA. There were protestors protesting against the alt-right and this resulted in one casualty.
2. I believe that the statues needed to be covered up. They statues represented racist beliefs and were not what America should be proud of and want statues of.
3. UT taking down the the statues of confederate soldiers was a good decision because they needed to be taken down a long time ago. The statues only promoted racist people in Austin.
4. I care about the statues and whether or not they are visible because leaving them up sends a message to the public that it is OK to be racist and discriminatory to certain groups.
5. I have not participated in any discussions about the statues primarily because my family is not a very political one, and we don't talk about what is going on in the media.
